Joey Manchego brings hands-on experience from both the field and the shop, with a background in framing, prefab systems, and jobsite coordination. As a Construction Supervisor at L&D Construction, he’s focused on keeping projects moving—lining out crews, coordinating trades, and making sure the work gets done right and on schedule. Joey has led production teams building wall panels and floor systems, giving him a strong understanding of how things should come together in the field. He uses that experience to stay ahead of issues, solve problems quickly, and keep jobs running efficiently from start to finish. He’s worked closely with builders, subcontractors, and crews in both shop and field roles, and knows how to bridge the gap between plans and real-world conditions. His approach is straightforward—clear communication, accountability, and getting the job done without overcomplicating it. Joey is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Afghanistan in 2007 and 2008. He brings that same level of discipline, leadership, and team mindset to every project he’s on.
Clayton serves as Project Manager at L&D Construction, where he oversees the critical work that keeps projects moving smoothly from start to finish. He manages pricing and estimating, procurement, subcontractor and vendor contracts, and all compliance requirements, ensuring insurance, documentation, and approvals are in place. Clayton also manages project budgets, coordinates material and finish selections with clients, and handles purchasing to keep timelines and costs aligned. Prior to joining L&D Construction in 2019, Clayton spent more than 12 years as a Senior Project Manager and Estimator with Connelly Development, a regional leader in commercial and custom home construction across the Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota tri-state area. His extensive experience in both commercial and residential construction brings a disciplined, detail-driven approach to every project. Clayton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Sciences in Construction Management from Wayne State University, earned in 2008, with minors in Safety and Literature. He relocated to Denver in 2016 with his wife, a Colorado native, and together they have two children. Outside of work, Clayton enjoys music, travel, and following a wide range of sports.
Sarah grew up in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of southern Colorado and was born into real estate. Her father owned and operated a real estate business for more than 35 years, and from an early age, Sarah was immersed in land use, development, and the mechanics of building value through property. Licensed as a real estate agent since 2006, Sarah began her career selling vacant land and mountain properties in Westcliffe, Colorado. She later expanded her experience by becoming licensed in North Dakota and Montana, and in 2010 she moved to Denver, where she has focused on residential and new construction sales ever since. Sarah has worked in new construction sales since 2013, including several years with Conner Murphy Homes in Williston, North Dakota, where she facilitated sales, selections, and design decisions for more than 30 new homes. In 2017, she became an independent real estate broker with Senderhauf Real Estate, further solidifying her expertise in development-focused transactions. Since 2016, Sarah has specialized in Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), helping permit and build more than 60 ADUs across Denver. Today, she serves in a sales role with L&D Construction, working closely with homeowners from the earliest feasibility conversations through zoning analysis, design coordination, permitting, and construction. Known for her transparent communication style, Sarah prides herself on honest, straightforward conversations with clients. She regularly encourages homeowners to gather multiple bids, ask tough questions, and choose the contractor that best fits their goals—whether or not that ends up being L&D. Her priority is helping clients make informed decisions with confidence, clarity, and realistic expectations. In 2022, Sarah served on the City of Denver’s ADU Advisory Committee, contributing hands-on industry insight to help shape zoning updates that expanded and clarified ADU development citywide. A self-described “zoning nerd,” she is deeply fluent in the Denver Zoning Code and highly skilled at navigating the city’s plan review and permitting process. Philosophically, Sarah is a strong advocate for smart, incremental development. She believes ADUs are one of the most effective tools for increasing housing supply while preserving the character of existing neighborhoods—and she is passionate about helping homeowners pursue projects that make sense for them, their property, and their neighborhood.
David Schultz has always known he would own his own business. From an early age, he was far more interested in building something of his own than working within someone else’s framework. A mindset shaped by growing up as the son of a custom homebuilder and spending his life around job sites. David began his career in construction in Fort Collins, working as a laborer and later a superintendent with Spanjer Homes from 2006 to 2009. That experience proved formative. Working closely with Steve Spanjer, the company’s owner, David learned not only the technical side of building homes, but also what it takes to run a successful, values-driven homebuilding business. Aside from working briefly with his father, this remains David’s only experience working for someone else, and one he credits with shaping his leadership approach. In 2009, after marrying his wife Lindsay, David founded L&D Construction. Launching a business during the recession meant taking on a wide range of remodeling projects and small jobs, requiring adaptability, grit, and hands-on problem-solving. That period reinforced David’s appreciation for both the business and technical sides of construction, an intersection where he continues to thrive. David has a particular passion for real estate development and the process of transforming raw or underutilized land into thoughtful, well-built spaces. He is deeply interested in building science and technical innovation, and he approaches construction with equal parts curiosity and precision. His entrepreneurial drive has also led him to co-found an offsite construction company, a venture he continues to support through his role on the Board of Directors. Today, as President of L&D Construction, David leads with a balance of craftsmanship, technical expertise, and business acumen. These values have guided the company from its early days through its growth in Denver’s evolving residential landscape. David lives in Denver with his wife and their three children. Much of family life revolves around kids’ sports and an ever-changing calendar of practices and games. When they’re not on the sidelines, the Schultz family embraces the Colorado lifestyle through camping, hunting, and canoeing, activities that reflect David’s deep connection to the place he calls home.
